"Kids letting off firecrackers -- feeling both joy and fear." - 100 Chinese Two-Part Allegorical Sayings

This allegorical saying is used to describe a person's conflicting psychological state of feeling both joy and fear at the same time -- much like young children at the tense but exciting moment when they light a firecracker. Though the fear is fleeting, the emotion keeps us rooted and warns us to be cautious in our approach. We wish you and your family a safe and wonderful 4th of July while letting off firecrackers of your own.
