Yixing Teapot with Bamboo Flowers ADY092

$29.95

Yixing teapots date back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279). These teapots are prized by collectors all over the world. The Zi Sha clay, which these teapots are made of, is found in the hilly southern area of the Yixing region in China. What makes a Yixing teapot unique is that the inside is unglazed, and that only one type of tea should be used in each teapot. The teaposts are generally designed for a single user and the Chinese originally drank the tea directly from the spout. On this teapot, shoots of bamboo and their flowers are carved and engraved into the side of the pot, evoking nature. The special clay, kaolin, quartz, and mica, with high concentrations of iron and silicon, allows the tea to breath and actually enhances the tea's aroma. It is also a great decoration for your house, with the added ability of becoming a useful conversation piece. A great gift for anyone, including YOU!
