The Banquet Soundtrack is composed by Tan Dun, the academy award winner, performed by Lang Lang, Zhou Xun, Zhang Lianying, and Teng Ge Er. The film was directed by famed Chinese director Feng Xiaogang and stars celebrated actress Zhang Ziyi. It is a loose adaption of William Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet, and features themes of revenge and fate. It is set in the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Period, in 10th-century China.
