The Teeny Weeny Tadpole

While swimming downstream he watches Lamb jump and wishes he could do the same, Lamb reassures him that someday he will be able to jump. On subsequent ventures, the Teeny Weeny Tadpole meets Rabbit and Grasshopper and watches them jump. Each of his new friends reassures him that someday he will jump as high as they can. Then one day the Teeny Weeny Tadpole meets the Big Bad Fish… who eats tadpoles! The Teeny Weeny Tadpole darts up and down stream and in and out of weeds as the Big Bad Fish gets closer and closer. The only way to escape is to jump! Suddenly the Teeny Weeny Tadpole has become a little frog and can jump as high if not higher than all of his new friends.

The Very Greedy Bee

"MINE!" That's what the very greedy bee says to anyone who asks him to share. While the other bees work hard, the greedy bee is busy gobbling pollen and guzzling nectar. Until one day, the greedy bee finds a meadow of the biggest juiciest flowers he's ever seen, and he decides not to tell anyone....

The Very Lazy Ladybug

Ladybug is so lazy that she doesn't know how to fly. She wants to find a new place to sleep and decides to ride on passing animals. But Kangaroo's pouch is too bumpy, and Crocodile's tail is too wet. When she hops onto Elephant's trunk, she gets a big surprise!

The Very Sleepy Sloth

While Sloth sleeps, the other animals are busy. Cheetah is on a "treadmill, working on his speed"; Elephant lifts weights; Kangaroo bounces on a trampoline; and Monkey swings. They all cease their activities to inquire why Sloth is so lazy, and he cleverly turns things around by challenging Monkey to try to lift Elephant's weights. Monkey topples over, and suggests that Elephant try jumping like Kangaroo. After everyone fails at another creature's talent, Sloth points out that they all have something they do best, and for him, it's snoozing. Expressive animals rendered in soft tones fill each page. Although this cast of characters would not all be found "deep in the jungle" as suggested, the story still works. A message-driven, yet fun tale that can be used to spark discussion about individuality.
