Ginseng Fruit BSM010

$7.95

Illustrated with pictures from the original animated film of the same name, and written in simplified Chinese characters and Pinyin, this beautiful book is based on a collection of popular Chinese tales about the Monkey King. On their journey to the West, Monk Tang and his three disciples arrive at the Wu Zhuang Temple. The temple disciples bring out Rensheng (Ginseng) fruits to treat the honored guests. However, Monk Tang, being a devote monk, refuses to eat the baby-like fruits, while the greedy hog and Monkey King conspire to steal the fruits. Later on, Monkey King gets involved in a dispute with the temple caretakers and angrily pushes over the Rensheng (Ginseng) tree. The Temple Master becomes very angry and begins to whip Monk Tang. To protect his master from punishment, Monkey King promises to find a way to bring the Rensheng tree back and does so with the help of Avalokitesvara. In the end, Monkey King also becomes friends with the Temple Master. This is a great book to enjoy and to practice reading and speaking Chinese. An English synopsis of the story is included at the end of the book.
