Ancient Chinese Stories is Volume 12 of Chinese Language and Culture Course Textbooks, it being suitable for students who have mastered more than 800 Chinese characters. The nine lessons included in this textbook introduce 14 stories in ancient China. 12-16 classes are required to finish the book (1.5-2 hours per class). These stories have cleverly designed plots and reflect the lifestyle of ancient Chinese people as well as their wisdom and sense of humor. At the end of the study, students will have improved their Chinese proficiency and understanding of ancient Chinese culture. Chinese Myth and Legend is Volume 13 of Chinese Language and Culture Course Textbooks and it is suitable for students who have mastered more than 800 Chinese characters. There are nine lessons with 116 new characters and 161 new phrases. 12-16 classes are required to finish the book (1.5-2 hours per class). Most Chinese myths and legends originated from North China around the Yellow River. Ancient Chinese people overcame drought, flood, and disease during the process of fighting with nature for survival, creating the glorious Chinese civilization. The textbook introduces ten myths and legends and students will learn the exciting battles ancient Chinese people fought, and will understand the origin of what makes the nation: hardworking, brave, and intelligent.
