There are mainly two categories of set patterns in book : 1. set sentence structures; 2. set phrases. Besides, we have also included some phrases and rhetorical words that are very challenging to students or don't mean literally at all. The latter ones can not be strictly called set patterns. However considering that they are the most difficult points for foreign students to master over the decades of our Chinese teaching, and are an essential addition in their practice, we put them in the book.
