This series of reading is developed to enhance elementary students's curriculum knowledge with fun stories. Each story is told in simple sentences, repetitive words in large font and is illustrated with colorful paintings. Vocabulary in Chinese and English is listed at the end of each book. Ages 7-9.
Content include:
1.Science -- To introduce some basic scientific knowledge to the children.
2.Moral -- To introduce moral values to the children.
3.Famous people -- To introduce famous historical Chinese figures to the children, to encourage the children to think critically and to strive for excellence.
4.History -- To introduce Chinese history to the children, in order to learn lessons which are applicable to today’s context.
Special Features:
1.The pictures and text are placed separately. The child will not be distracted by the picture when he is reading the words. The big fonts also enable the child to see the words easily, thus reducing strain on the eye muscles.
2.Only difficult words have accompanying hanyupinyin. This reduces the child’s over-reliance on it.
3.Each book has a vocabulary list with accompanying hanyupinyin and English translation. Teachers and parents can use this list to customise the child’s learning. He can use this list for 认字、习字、听写、造句.
4.Each book has attached questions realating to the story. These questions help the child to revise the main points of the story and reinforce the lessons learnt.
