One Character on Each Day is a multimedia system that engages you in learning Chinese characters via games. Both adults and children will find this an interesting and engaging experience to learn Chinese characters and Chinese culture.

The software is in the form of a calendar and presents one character each day. To learn each character, you’ll engage in a guessing game, read its story, practice writing the character and learn the common words or phrases formed with the character. This software coherently integrates Chinese character learning with the learning of Chinese culture and life. A beautiful and unique screensaver also comes along with this software.

The main interface of the software is a calendar that synchronizes with the computer to display the current dates. The software presents one character each day for you to learn, starting from the date you install the software.

Unit Structure

• Guessing Game - You’ll first be challenged with a mini-game to guess the meaning of the character you are to learn that day. Once you got it right, you’ll enter the next learning phase.
• Story - The origins and cultural backgrounds of the character will be introduced next to help you memorize the character.
• Character Writing - Animated displays of the strokes and the stroke order of the character follows next to show you how to write the character
• Word Formation - This is a mini-game to engage you in learning the common words and phrases formed by the character.
