The Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) has developed a set of standards for teachers of Chinese to the growing demands of Chinese learners for more and better qualified teachers. TSCOL Standards provides an overall framework for the knowledge, abilities, and skills required of teachers of Chinese to speakers of other languages. It serves as the basis for the education, training, assessment, and accreditation of teachers. In sum, TCSOL Standards draws on the most recent research insights in the fields of second language acquisitions and teaching English to speakers of other languages, as well as the experience teachers have accumulated in teaching Chinese as a second or foreign language in various international contexts.
The book itself is split into two sections--a Chinese and an English section. The Chinese section totals 68 pages. The English section is accessed in an unique manner: to access the English section, flip to the back cover of the book and rotate the book 180 degrees.
