This is the fourth (Intermediate/Advanced) textbook in the Ni Hao language learning series designed to provide students with the means to develop communicative skills in spoken and written Chinese. Especially geared toward the junior high school level, the series is also suitable for levels ranging from upper elementary school through high school. Language functions and notions are systematically incorporated in all topics and settings. Each level in the series contains a textbook, a workbook, a teacher's handbook, and a set of audio cassettes. Each lesson in this textbook contains the following subsections: Illustrated conversation, Learn the sentences, New words and Expressions, Write the Characters and Something to know. Topics reflect the lives of senior-level students, from school-based interests and activities to personal and social concerns--form example, part time jobs, relationships, environmental issues, the internet and technology, peer pressure, social issues, and so on. Level 4 introduces 440 words and how to write 140 characters. Choose between Simplified and Traditional Character versions of this textbook. Price is per textbook. A language learning CD-ROM is now included with each simplified-character edition of the Ni Hao textbook, and the effectiveness of this series has increased tremendously. Based on the popular Ni hao Personal Language Lab CD-ROMs, the new textbook software allows students to listen to passages from the textbook, as well as supply their own responses. The software's language recognition capability will evaluate a student's reponses and provide valuable feedback.
